Air Force overcomes 2-goal deficit, tops Bentley in OT

NEWS SERIVCES

The Air Force hockey team got back to .500, overcoming a two-goal deficit for a 3-2 overtime victory at Bentley.

Blake Page scored 13 seconds into overtime to end it as Air Force improved to 7-7-2 overall, 6-3-2 in the Atlantic Hockey Association.

“They just don’t quit,’’ said Air Force coach Frank Serratore, whose team goes for its first winning record this season in today’s rematch in Waltham, Mass. “They stay with it, they stay with it. ... they’re the epitome of it’s not over ’til its over.’’

Bentley led the battle of Falcons 2-0 on goals by Joe Campanelli in the second period and Dan Koudys early in the third. But Tim Kirby cleaned up a rebound with 7:30 left in regulation (Pine Creek’s Kyle DeLaurell assisted) and, with an extra attacker on the ice, Derrick Burnett tied it with 2:07 left. Scott Mathis assisted on the tying and winning goals.

“It just doesn’t get much more fun than that,’’ Serratore said.

Jason Torf made 29 saves in goal for Air Force, which outshot Bentley 34-31
