RIT drops Air Force 1-0 in overtime
Air Force had chances in Rochester, N.Y. “The bounces were going our way,’’ coach Frank Serratore said, including four power plays.
But the Rochester Institute of Technology won 1-0 Friday night on a power-play goal by Adam Hartley.
“We put ourselves in position to get points,’’ Serratore said. “It didn’t happed for us.’’
The Falcons (11-6-5, 9-6-5 Atlantic Hockey) were fortunate to be in the game. First-place RIT outshot Air Force 37-20. And RIT goalie Shane Madolora is unbeaten this season (13-0-5).
“I don’t think we played a terrific game. I thought our goalie played terrific,’’ Serratore said, referring to Jason Torf, who finished with 36 saves.
Pine Creek’s Kyle DeLaurell was called for boarding 34 seconds into overtime. Ninety-three seconds into the two-minute penalty, Hartley ended it moments after Torf made a stellar save.
“Sketchy at best,’’ Serratore said about the penalty call. “But you know they’re going to get a call. Bottom line, they were 1-for-2 on the power play and we were 0-for-4.
“Their special teams got it done.’’
