Norfolk State at Air Force: Three things to look for
1. How many 3-pointers will the Spartans hit?
Air Force's first five opponents bombed away from beyond the 3-point arc - all made at least eight 3-pointers and four hit 11 or more. During the Falcons' current two-game losing streak, their opponents have made 24 of 52 3-point attempts (46.2 percent). For the season, Air Force ranks last among Mountain West Conference teams in 3-point field goal percentage defense (39.5 percent). Norfolk State has made 16 of 41 3-point shots (39 percent) in three games.
2. Air Force guard Anwar Johnson
The senior scored a career-high 20 points in Wednesday's loss to Stanford and seems to be getting more comfortable at his new position - Johnson played on the wing prior to this season. Johnson still is slowed by a foot injury, which originally was thought to be a sprained ankle.
3. Norfolk State guard Michael Deloach
The Spartans' Most Improved Player last season, Deloach has gotten his senior campaign off to a good start. The 6-foot guard is leading the team in points per game (22) and rebounds per game (8) and also is averaging 3.3 assists.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"I think he's getting the other team's best defender. Everyone in the country knows he's a great shooter. ... It's something we'll see throughout the rest of the season."
- Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds on senior guard/forward Andrew Henke, who scored a season-low two points against Stanford.
NOTE TO QUOTE
Air Force sophomore guard Evan Washington has missed all 10 of his 3-point attempts but is leading the team in rebounding with 6.2 per game.
