In Saturday’s 65-51 loss to TCU, Air Force committed more turnovers (13) than assists (12) for the seventh time in nine Mountain West Conference games.
Early in the second half, Air Force committed six turnovers in an eight-possession span, including four in a row after cutting the Horned Frogs’ lead to five.
“It was sloppy play,” said senior forward/center Grant Parker, who scored 11 points. “They don’t pressure us any more than San Diego State does or UNLV. It’s just a matter of us not taking care of the ball and playing sloppy.”
Free throw follies
Air Force again is struggling from the free throw line.
After making 35-of-44 (79.5 percent) in a three-game stretch, the Falcons have made just 7-of-20 in their last two games.
In nine MWC games, Air Force has made 73-of-120 free throws (60.8 percent).
Etc.
Freshman guard Michael Lyons recorded a career-high four assists and a career-high three steals against TCU. … Seven of Air Force’s eight MWC losses have come by 10 or more points. The other came by nine.
