Air Force forward Bohannon out 6-10 weeks

THE GAZETTE

Air Force's men's basketball team took another hit in the frontcourt, as forward Zach Bohannon tore a ligament in his thumb during practice Sunday. He will have surgery on Wednesday morning and miss six-to-10 weeks, Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds said.

Bohannon, who had minor knee surgery a few weeks ago but had returned to practice, was going to split time with Taylor Broekhuis at the Falcons' post position. Now, with Bohannon, Sammy Schafer and freshman Ethan Michael out with injuries, the Falcons' frontcourt has serious depth issues. Schafer and Michael are done for the season.

"This makes us incredibly thin," Reynolds said. "We have one post player and that's it."

Bohannon, a 6-foot-8 forward, will be in a cast four-to-five weeks. Air Force's first Mountain West game is Jan. 4, so Bohannon should be back for that, assuming his recovery doesn't go past 10 weeks.

"You've got to take a step forward and make the best of it," Reynolds said.
