Browns-Broncos: 3 things we watched

THE GAZETTE

REVIEW OF 3 THINGS TO WATCH

1. More offense

Denver’s offense wasn’t great, but did some things well. The Broncos didn’t back themselves up with poor plays on first down, allowing for manageable situations on second and third down. Still, there is room for improvement.

2. Forcing turnovers

Cleveland quarterback Brady Quinn might be the most conservative quarterback in the league, which helped Denver. The Browns rarely threw deep to avoid turnovers, but they didn’t score a touchdown, either. Quinn had 161 yards on 31 attempts.

3. Capitalizing on special teams

Denver did a good job against Cleveland returner Josh Cribbs, not allowing him to break any big plays. The Broncos could feel better about their special teams if not for Peyton Hillis’ opening kickoff fumble.
