Colleges: Wisconsin drops No. 1 DU in hockey
Justin Schultz scored the game-winning goal midway through the third period as No. 3 Wisconsin beat No. 1 Denver 4-3 Saturday night to deny the Pioneers a chance to move into first place in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.
Craig Smith and Jordy Murray had a goal and an assist each for the Badgers. Matt Donovan had a goal and two assists for Denver.
Men's basketball
• Donald Sloan scored 18 points, including four late free throws, as Texas A&M beat Colorado 67-63 to extend the Buffaloes’ (10-9, 1-4) Big 12 road misery to 32 straight losses.
• Dairese Gary scored 17 points to lead four New Mexico players in double figures in an 82-64 victory over Colorado State (11-8, 2-3 MWC).
• Andrew Hooper made 4-of-6 3-point shots and finished with 15 points as Denver (13-7, 6-3 Sun Belt) defeated South Alabama 71-48.
Women's basketball
• Taryn Wicijowski scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds, leading Utah to a 67-47 victory over Air Force. Raimee Beck and Alicia Leipprandt led the Falcons (3-15, 0-5) with 12 points each.
• Sophomore Kaetlyn Murdoch scored a career-high 25 points, pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked five shots to lead Denver (12-8, 7-2) past South Alabama 71-68.
Air Force swimming
Rampart graduate Robert Dawson helped Air Force win the meet-clinching 400-yard freestyle relay as the Falcons edged Utah 144-139.
Dawson also won the 50 free in a season-best 21.24 seconds. Other relay swimmers, Benjamin Gunn (100 backstroke) and Chris Morin (100 free), also won events.
Utah won the women's meet 169-113.
CC swimming
Jordan DeGayner won the 100 butterfly to lead the home team in the Colorado College Classic. CC men finished fifth to winner Colorado Mines and the women were sixth as Colorado State won.
Wrestling
Led by freshman Cole Vonohlen and seniors Tyler French and Stephen Larson, the Air Force wrestling team went 2-1 at the Tracy Borah Duals hosted by Western State in Gunnison. The Falcons (4-6) defeated CSU-Pueblo 29-6 and Mesa State 37-15, but fell 23-16 to the host Mountaineers.
Tennis
Air Force's Hannah Dake, Melissa Cecil, Tahlia Smoke and Katrina Eromin won in singles and doubles in a 6-1 victory over South Dakota.
Track and field
Air Force's Sara Neubauer Ally Romanko broke her own school records in the shot put (52 feet, 3 3/4 inches) and weight throw (60-1) in winning at the Nebraska adidas Classic.
Ally Romanko, who set a school mark of 1:32.64 in winning the 600-meter run Friday at the Nebraska Wesleyan open, was second in the 800 in a record 2:09.92.
Justin Tyner won the men's mile in 4:07.55.
