Free agent Elam hasn't heard from Broncos since Thursday
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Denver Broncos’ top unrestricted free agent, kicker Jason Elam, hasn’t secured a contract to return to the team with only a few days remaining before the NFL free agency period begins.
There hasn’t been much communication with the Broncos lately, Elam said in an e-mail Tuesday. The last talks between the sides were Thursday.
“Nothing new,” Elam said.
Elam is Denver’s all-time leading scorer, and had four game-winning field goals last year.
He has said he would like to return to Denver for his 16th season, and Broncos coach Mike Shanahan has said he wants Elam back.
The Broncos’ potential unrestricted free agents, including Elam, fullback Cecil Sapp and safety Nick Ferguson, can hit the open market Friday when free agency begins.
