High school athlete of the week

Air Academy golfer Kory Harrell has enjoyed a breakout season, winning all three Colorado Springs Metro League meets so far this season, including Tuesday’s Kadet Invitaional, to enjoy a 12-stroke lead for the individual season title. He goes for his fourth win on Wednesday.

You have been pretty consistent so far this season. What does that mean to you?

It means a lot. It feels good to get my game to where I want it to be.

What did you do over the summer to prepare for this season?

I played in a lot of national tournaments all over the country. I practiced a lot, almost everyday.

What are your goals for this season?

I would really love to win regionals and win state.

Who is your favorite athlete?

Tiger Woods because of his drive, his passion and his work ethic.

Who is your favorite super hero?

Batman. I grew up loving Batman. I don’t know why.

What college are you hoping to go to?

I would like to go to Colorado, Nebraska or Wyoming.

What are you doing to prepare for college?

Right now I’m talking with their golf coaches to see if I could make their team.

What are your career ideas?

I would like to take a golf career forward and try the Nationwide Tour or the PGA Tour. If not, I’d like to do something in the golf world.

Favorite movie?

"Tin Cup."

Favorite TV show?

"SportsCenter." I like watching "MythBusters" and probably "Scrubs." "Scrubs" is a cool show.

Who is you real-life hero and why?

Probably my dad, because he works so hard at everything.

Favorite food and why?

Mexican food. I love burritos. I love going to Chipotle and Qdoba all the time.

Least-favorite food?

Probably celery or broccoli.

What would you buy first if you won the lottery?

Probably a fast car, like a sports car or something. My dream car is like a 1967 LB GT Mustang. I’d probably buy one of those.

What is your favorite thing about living in Colorado Springs?

Snow. I love the snow. I try (to ski or snowboard). I’m pretty busy with golf, but we try to get up there every now and then.
