Air Force vs. San Diego State men's basketball preview
San Diego State at Air Force
Today, noon, Clune Arena
San Diego State (26-1, 11-1 MWC), last game: 68-62 win vs. New Mexico
About the Aztecs: When the Falcons played at San Diego State last month, they decided to concentrate on taking away the Aztecs’ inside game – which gave them space to shoot 3-pointers. San Diego State hit 11-of-26 of its 3-point attempts in the victory. Since Air Force can’t match San Diego State’s front line, the Falcons will probably employ a similar strategy today.
Air Force (13-11, 4-7 MWC), last game: 49-42 loss at UNLV
About the Falcons: What cost the Falcons in the first meeting against San Diego State were a few quick runs by the Aztecs, often sparked by turnovers. The Falcons have to handle the Aztecs’ pressure today. Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds said San Diego State pressed hard on 29 of 63 possessions in the first meeting, causing six turnovers on those pressing possessions. Reynolds said he wants the Falcons to keep their overall turnovers to about 10.
