Men's basketball: Air Force vs. UNLV preview
UNLV at Air Force
Saturday, 7 p.m., Clune Arena
UNLV (19-3, 3-1 Mountain West), last game: 77-72 win at Boise State
About the Rebels: Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds said he thinks this is the best UNLV team he has seen in his six years with the Falcons. The strength of the Rebels is probably their depth, with five players averaging at least 9.1 points. The top three – Chace Stanback, Mike Moser and Anthony Marshall – have all had dominating stretches this season.
Air Force (11-7, 1-3 Mountain West), last game: 59-56 loss at TCU
About the Falcons: Air Force has had some success slowing down and frustrating UNLV in recent years – last year’s 49-42 Falcons loss at Las Vegas last year being a clear example. The Falcons will need to limit possessions in this game, because the Rebels like to push the tempo. UNLV has scored at least 70 points in 17 of 22 games this season, including 124 vs. Central Arkansas. Falcons guard Todd Fletcher will be a game-time decision because of a foot injury.
