Cornerback sent to Atlanta for draft pick

THE GAZETTE

The Denver Broncos traded cornerback Domonique Foxworth to Atlanta for a 2009 seventh-round draft pick, which is contingent on Foxworth's playing time this year, but the team wasn't done making moves Tuesday.

Tuesday afternoon, Denver signed guard Dylan Gandy, who was cut by the Broncos on Saturday, and sixth-year defensive tackle Josh Shaw. The Broncos released defensive tackle Alvin McKinley, who started 10 games for them last year.

Foxworth said he appreciated and respected the entire organization, including coach Mike Shanahan and owner Pat Bowlen.

"I'm very happy with how my career went in Denver and obviously I got very close to the community and city so I'm definitely sad to have to leave, but there's no anger or animosity," Foxworth said.

Foxworth was heavily involved in the community, especially in the Darrent Williams Memorial Teen Center. The center is named after Foxworth's friend and former teammate Williams, who was shot and killed last year.

"I genuinely loved the city of Denver, especially going through the situation I did with Darrent," said Foxworth, who promised to remain active in the Denver community. "The whole city, we all mourned together and I think I grew close with the city, so I'll miss the city."

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
