College hockey: AFA's Ehn suffered broken leg, CC holds place in national poll

THE GAZETTE

Air Force’s leading scorer, Eric Ehn, fractured his left fibula in a feet-first collision into the boards Saturday against Colorado College.

Ehn — a finalist for last year’s Hobey Baker Award, given to college hockey’s best player — will undergo further evaluation this week to determine the extent of possible ligament damage. A recovery time frame will be established based on that finding, Air Force sports information director Dave Toller said Monday.

The fibula is the smaller of the two leg bones between the knee and the ankle and is not weight-bearing.

Air Force, which on Friday beat Denver for the first time since 1980, cracked the USCHO.com/CSTV top 20 for the first time this season.

The Falcons take on Army in West Point, N.Y., this weekend and are two points out of first in the Atlantic Hockey Association.

Tigers hold ground in national polls

Colorado College maintained its No. 3 ranking in both national polls for the second consecutive week after home wins over Bemidji State and Air Force.

The Tigers, who have a six-point lead on second-place Denver in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, resume conference play this weekend at Michigan Tech.

No. 4 North Dakota jumped three spots in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll after sweeping Minnesota State-Mankato. The Fighting Sioux are third in the WCHA, two points behind No. 5 Denver, which is idle this weekend.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
