All indications are quarterback Kyle Orton will be ready to play Sunday despite an injury to his right index finger. He threw the ball well during the open period of practice despite wearing a glove on his injured right hand again.
Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said he wouldn't declare Orton ready to start until he could see him practice again Friday, but it appears Orton is on track to play.
"He has handled it great," McDaniels said about Orton's injury. "He is a tough guy. It is an unfortunate injury to have as a quarterback, but he has dealt with it fine."
The Broncos will release their injury report later today. Guard Chris Kuper, who is only two weeks removed from a high ankle sprain, is in some danger of missing his first start because of injury. Receiver Jabar Gaffney continues to practice with an orange noncontact jersey but McDaniels has said Gaffney could be ready on Sunday.
The only players who can probably be ruled out today are safety Josh Barrett (shoulder) and defensive end Le Kevin Smith (knee), who were unable to practice all week.
