Broncos' draft needs: Offensive, defensive lines

THE GAZETTE

Offensive line

Offensive line might be the Broncos' lowest priority. The tackle spots are set with young standouts Ryan Clady and Ryan Harris. Chris Kuper is a solid young guard; Ben Hamilton and Casey Wiegmann are stout veterans. Hamilton and Wiegmann will have to be replaced someday, but the Broncos drafted center/guard Kory Lichtensteiger last year. With all the other holes Denver needs to fill, finding young depth on the line is probably a concern for another day.

Defensive line

Denver has 10 picks, and figuring out an over/under on how many defensive linemen the Broncos will select seems impossible. No number seems too high. The Broncos have to completely rebuild their line to play a 3-4. There aren't many holdovers who are obvious starters, and Denver signed only modestly priced free agents on the line. A true nose tackle is one priority. Denver will also look at some big defensive ends who can come in and play right away. It wouldn't be surprising to see a couple of defensive line starters come out of this draft, and other rookies could fill in the rotation. The Broncos will be under a lot of pressure picking defensive linemen - they can't afford to waste a pick on someone who can't play soon.
