Orton shaves beard in effort to help break losing streak

THE GAZETTE

ENGLEWOOD – Kyle Orton is a bit superstitious, he admitted. After the Denver Broncos lost their second straight game the quarterback shaved off the beard he had been growing since the beginning of the season.

“Lost two games in a row, might as well change it up,” Orton said.

The Broncos have plenty of things that need to be changed going into Sunday’s game against Washington. Denver looked at the film of Monday night’s loss to Pittsburgh and aren’t dwelling on it.

“I’ve moved on from Pittsburgh,” Orton said.

Players and coaches admitted the offense has to be more balanced after the run game has struggled two straight weeks. Defensively, adjustments will be made. Safety Brian Dawkins wondered if players are trying to do too much on defense.

One thing the Broncos promise not to do is overlook the 2-6 Redskins. Denver needs a win to avoid losing any more ground to the surging Chargers in the AFC West.

“It’s a team that if you take them lightly, you can go down there and get your tail beat,” running back Correll Buckhalter said. “We’ll prepare through the week to go there and have a good game.”
