Loss should help keep Broncos humble

ENGLEWOOD • Maybe the timing was right. The Denver Broncos weren’t going to go undefeated this season, and when they improved to 6-0, they were probably feeling pretty good about themselves.

They came back to earth a bit after a humbling 30-7 loss to Baltimore, and now prepare for a tough game Monday night against Pittsburgh.

“Maybe we were up on the high horse and forgot about the small things that got us to 6-0,” cornerback Andre Goodman said. “I’m pretty amped about what I’m expecting Monday in terms of how the guys are going to respond. I feel like I already know the character of this team, but I feel like how we play Monday will show the character of this team.”

The Broncos are still in good shape, with a two-game lead in the AFC West, but things could be a little more challenging now. Every team will study what weaknesses the Ravens found in beating Denver. That’s no surprise to Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, who said he’ll be studying what teams have done well against Pittsburgh and why.

“I think that pretty much every team across the league is going to do that,” McDaniels said. “We are certainly going to have to improve on what we didn’t do well (Sunday) or else it is going to continue to repeat and carry over to the next game and the next game.”

Practice squad moves
The Broncos signed defensive tackle Carlton Powell, a 2008 draft pick, and running back Lance Ball to the practice squad. They released running back Darius Walker and put defensive lineman Everette Pedescleaux on the injured list.
