ENGLEWOOD -- Denver Broncos safety John Lynch is still pondering retirement but has set no timetable to decide whether he’ll be back for a 16th season.

“For a long time, I didn’t even think about it,” said Lynch, who was at the Broncos’ facilities Monday for a ceremony in which his charity foundation honored local high school student-athletes. “It’s not like I’m sitting laboring over a decision.”

Lynch said his health won’t be a factor in his decision. He suffered a pinched nerve in his neck last season, but was cleared by doctors to play.

“I went and played five more games and never had an issue,” Lynch said. “I feel very comfortable with that.”

Lynch, who will be 37 in September, said he is weighing whether he wants to make the commitment to getting physically prepared for another season.

“I know how much energy it takes to come back and do this thing,” he said. “If I come back and do it, I want to do it right.”

Lynch was named to the AFC’s Pro Bowl roster as an injury replacement last week, and said he could use the time in Hawaii to weigh his options.

“I think it’s going to be a good time to get over there, be around some football and reflect on things,” he said.
