Nuggets acquire Malik Allen from the Bucks

The Denver Nuggets acquired forward Malik Allen from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for forward Walter Sharpe and guard/forward Sonny Weems, vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien announced today. 

Allen, 6-foot-10, 255 pounds, has avreaged 5.4 points and 3.0 rebounds in 409 games with Miami, Charlotte, Chicago, New Jersey, Dallas and Milwaukee during his eight-year career. In 49 games for the Bucks last season, he averaged 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds.

Sharpe was obtained by the Nuggets on Jul. 13 along with guard Arron Afflalo from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for a second round pick in the 2010 NBA Draft.

Weems averaged 1.6 ppg in 12 games with the Nuggets last season and also helped lead the Colorado 14ers to the NBA Development League title, averaging 20.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 3.0 apg in 21 games. Earlier this month, he averaged 16.6 ppg and 6.6 rpg in five games for the Nuggets summer league entry team that posted a 4-1 record in Las Vegas.
