Colorado College moves up to No. 7 in national hockey polls

This weekend’s road sweep at Minnesota State-Mankato has moved Colorado College from No. 13 in the USA Hockey/USA Today weekly poll up to No. 7. In the U.S. College Hockey Online/CBS poll, the Tigers (7-2-1, 5-1-1 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) moved up to No. 7 from No. 10.

Miami remains No. 1, North Dakota No. 2, and Denver No. 3 in both polls. The third-place Pioneers host the second-place Sioux this weekend. CC leads the WCHA.

The Tigers host nonconference foe Robert Morris on Friday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, Air Force’s Andrew Volkening was named Atlantic Hockey goaltender of the week. He had an 0.96 goal-against average and .966 saves percentage in helping the Falcons take three points from Holy Cross. He had his second consecutive shutout Friday, his school-record 13th. His second-best streak of 186 scoreless minutes ended Saturday in a 2-2 tie. He is second in the league with a 1.70 GAA and .943 saves percentage.
