Rockies come up big in rehab stint with Sky Sox

Colorado Rockies regulars Yorvit Torrealba and Jeff Baker both drove in runs to help the Colorado Springs Sky Sox defeat the host Sacramento Bees 3-0 on Thursday night.


Torrealba, the Rockies' backup catcher is on assignment with the Sky Sox after missing time when he went to Venezuela following the kidnapping of 11-year-old son on June 2.


Torrealba staked the Sky Sox to a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when his line-drive single to right scored Baker.


Baker, a utilityman with the Rockies who has been on the disabled list since April 29 with a sprained left hand, hit a solo homer in the sixth. Dan Ortmeier followed with a sacrifice fly two batters later for the 3-0 margin.


Reliever Ryan Speier, who is recovering from a strained left hamstring that put him on the DL on April 21, retired the side in the eighth.


Starter Brandon Hynick (6-5) earned his first win since May 28, allowing five hits and no walks in seven innings. He struck out four.
