Sky Sox starter Glendon Rusch was unable to work his way out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the fifth, giving up the winning runs to the host Rainiers in PCL Pacific North play Monday night in Tacoma, Wash.

The Sky Sox (41-43) had rallied to tie the game with a run by Christopher Frey in the top of the fifth and an RBI single by Jayson Nix in the fourth inning.

The Rainiers (44-40) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third off Rusch after a two-run homer by Prentice Redman, his seventh home run of the season.

Tacoma closer Jared Wells recorded his 15th save of the year with two strikeouts in the ninth.

Rusch struggled for the Sky Sox, allowing four walks in 4 2/3 innings. Seth Smith batted 2-for- 4 with a double.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
