Orton says he may keep glove on throwing hand for Sunday
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ENGLEWOOD – Kyle Orton’s right index finger feels better, but the glove might stay on another week.
The Denver Broncos quarterback, who wore a glove last week in practice and against Cincinnati to help with his grip on the ball, said he could wear it again Sunday against Cleveland.
“We’ll have to go through the practice week to see how it goes,” Orton said. “I played with it last week, so if I have to, it shouldn’t be that big of a deal.”
Orton struggled at times against the Bengals. Although he finished with 243 yards, 87 of those came on a fluky touchdown to Brandon Stokley on Denver’s final play from scrimmage. Although he has never used the glove as an excuse for missing any throws, Orton made it clear he’d rather play without it.
“It’s just not what I’ve done for my entire life,” Orton said. “So I’d rather play without it, obviously.”
Physically, Orton said his finger is doing much better.
“It has seen improvement every day for sure,” Orton said.
The Broncos hope to make some improvement this week on the field. Although they won, there were many things to clean up on both sides of the ball.
“It’s always better coming to work after you win,” McDaniels said. “I think our guys understand there’s a lot of things we need to fix and a lot of things we need to improve on, which I think is where most teams in the league are right now. You’re never at your peak after Week 1.”
