Eveland sidelined with injury, doesn't travel to Minnesota
MINNEAPOLIS – Colorado College right wing Dakota Eveland didn’t make the trip to Minnesota because of an upper-body injury he suffered this week during practice, but the injury isn’t serious enough that he’ll miss extended time, and he’ll be helped by the team’s upcoming bye.
Even before Eveland went down, CC coach Scott Owens had decided to replace Eveland on the top line with Jeff Collett, who skated Friday alongside Jaden and Rylan Schwartz. William Rapuzzi and Aaron Harstad both returned after they were benched Saturday in a 5-4 overtime loss to St. Cloud State – Rapuzzi on the third line with David Civitarese and Archie Skalbeck and Harstad now in the second defensive pairing with Mike Boivin.
CC players make hospital visit
Skalbeck joined Michael Morin and CC assistant Joe Bonnett in visiting Minnesota high school sophomore Jack Jablonski, who was paralyzed last month in a junior varsity game. The trip to Jablonski’s hospital room lasted 15 minutes, and they gave him a CC jersey.
“It hits home, even though they don’t know this young man. It’s very personal to them,” CC athletic director Ken Ralph said, noting that Skalbeck and Morin are both Minnesota natives. He added, “These are not things the coaches tell the kids they have to do. These are things the guys want to do. … It’s the right thing to do. It’s part of growing up.”
