Sky Sox settle for series split with Las Vegas after 5-0 loss
Las Vegas pitchers T.J. Beam and Brian Wolfe dominated Colorado Springs hitters on Thursday night, combining on a five-hitter as the 51s beat the visiting Sky Sox 5-0 to earn a split of the four-game series.
Beam worked the first 72/3 innings, giving up three, walking none (hitting one) and striking out six. Wolfe gave up two hits and struck out one in the final four outs.
Sky Sox starter Adam Eaton (3-3) matched Beam for four innings, but gave up a two-run single to Angel Sanchez in the fifth inning and departed after 62/3 innings, giving up three runs on seven hits.
Las Vegas got two runs on three hits without an out against Ben Julianel before Scott Munter finished.
The Sky Sox, 3-5 since the All-Star break, begin a five-game home series against Sacramento tonight.
