Sky Sox fall to brink of elimination

NEWS SERVICES

The path to the Pacific Coast League playoffs for the Sky Sox became crystal clear Saturday night.

Don’t lose.

A 6-4 loss at Tacoma means Colorado Springs must win today and Monday or the Rainiers win the Pacific North Division.

Bryan LaHair, who mashed the Sky Sox for two doubles and three RBIs in Friday night’s 9-6 victory, homered and doubled and drove in another three runs Saturday.

Dan Ortmeier had three hits for the Sky Sox.

Two unearned runs in the seventh inning put the Sky Sox one from done.

Even the weather forecast — possible rain — is conspiring against the Sky Sox. The potential for bad weather prompted the parent Rockies to send center fielder Dexter Fowler to Double-A Tulsa to rehab from a bruised leg.
