AFA basketball notes: Stewart returns, Fow sits
Air Force sophomore guard/forward Taylor Stewart saw his first action since breaking his left wrist on Dec. 28 against Niagara. He played 5 minutes, all in the first half, missed both shots he took, grabbed a rebound and turned the ball over three times.
Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds said Stewart "wanted to do really well," and appeared “a little nervous."
“Hopefully he’ll be back in the flow a little bit more,” Reynolds said.
Junior forward Tom Fow, meanwhile, played only the final 2.5 seconds.
“Felt like tonight we had a better rotation with guys that were working real hard defensively,” Reynolds said.
Fow played just 2 minutes a week earlier at BYU after averaging 21.0 minutes in the Falcons’ first 10 conference games.
Etc.
Air Force now is 1-9 in games decided by five or fewer points during the last two seasons. New Mexico is 6-0 this season in games decided by three or fewer points. … Freshman guard Todd Fletcher and senior center Mike McLain both tied career highs for assists with five and four, respectively.
