Air Force vs. TCU men's basketball preview
TCU at Air Force
Wednesday night 6 p.m., Clune Arena
TCU (10-20, 1-14 MWC), last game: 80-70 loss vs. New Mexico
About the Horned Frogs: TCU coach Jim Christian says his team is playing hard and has played better the second time through the Mountain West, but one thing still plagues the last-place Horned Frogs. “We’ve been a really bad shooting team and that has hurt us,” Christian said. Going into the final week of the regular season, TCU was seventh in the Mountain West in free-throw percentage, field-goal percentage and 3-point percentage.
Air Force (14-13, 5-9 MWC), last game: 74-57 win vs. Colorado State
About the Falcons: The key for Air Force is how it plays TCU point guard Hank Thorns. Christian said most teams try to wear out Thorns because he is the only true point guard the Horned Frogs have, so Air Force could pressure him a bit. Air Force coach Jeff Reynolds gave TCU credit, however, for playing together since guard Ronnie Moss, the Horned Frogs’ best player, was suspended. Part of that improvement has been due to Thorns, who averages 10.3 points and 6.9 assists.
