CC hockey: Three things to watch vs. Robert Morris
Here are the three things Western Collegiate Hockey Association-leading Colorado College (7-2-1) will focus on for this weekend’s nonconference series against Robert Morris (3-6-1).
1. MORE POINTS PRODUCTION IN 5-ON-5
Coach Scott Owens wants all the lines to produce and avoid relying on special teams. No. 7 CC has leaned on the nation’s No. 2 power play (19-of-60, .317 percent) after going 3-for-14 last weekend.
2. RETAIN FOCUS AGAINST UNFAMILIAR OPPONENT
It could be too easy for the Tigers to let down considering Robert Morris isn’t in the WCHA.
3 CC NEEDS TO ADAPT QUICKLY
The teams have never played before so there’s little film on what the Colonials will do.
“We’ll have to adapt,” Owens said. “They’re known for playing well with the big boys and having a good power play so we’ll have to be ready for that.”
