THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

ENGLEWOOD - The Denver Broncos have been awarded wide receiver C.J. Jones off waivers from Kansas City.

Jones is a third-year player who has spent time on the active roster with Cleveland in 2003 and New England in 2008, as well as parts of two seasons on the practice squad with the Browns (2003-04) and Patriots (‘07).

The Chiefs signed Jones, who went to Iowa, on March 5 as an unrestricted free agent, but waived him on June 19.

Wiegmann reacts to murder

Broncos center Casey Wiegmann today released the following statement in reaction to the gunshot killing of his high school football coach, Aplington-Parkersburg (Iowa) coach Ed Thomas:

"I was extremely saddened to hear the news this morning about the passing of Coach Ed Thomas. He was a great Christian man. I learned a lot from him, both as a player and a man. Last year, you could see exactly what the football program means to Aplington-Parkersburg in the way the community pulled together to restore the football field after the tornado. That is a reflection of Coach Thomas. I cannot begin to count the number of lives he affected in this community. I know I carry many of the lessons I learned from him with me every day. My family and I pray for Coach Thomas' family."

Ted Haggard is starting new church at his Colorado Springs home.
What's your view?
Good for him. If God has called Haggard to return to ministry, he should obey.
Haggard should stay out of the ministry. He has too much baggage to lead a church.
I don't care what Haggard does, and I'm sick of hearing about him in the news.
Haggard and anyone crazy enough to attend his church deserve each other.
Haggard has a lot to offer as a pastor. Let's give him a chance.
