Tigers remain no. 3 after split

THE GAZETTE

Colorado College, which salvaged a split at Minnesota State-Mankato last weekend, remained No. 3 in both national hockey polls Monday.

The Tigers, who travel to Alaska-Anchorage this weekend, scored all five of their goals on the power play last weekend. The Seawolves, who have earned at least a point every weekend this season, need one win to top last season's win total (six).

CC senior goaltender Drew O'Connell, an Anchorage native and backup to Richard Bachman, is expected to earn his second start of the season this weekend.

Air Force, which improved to 10-0 last weekend, hosts Sacred Heart this weekend before facing the Tigers in a one-game showdown at Cadet Ice Arena on Nov. 28.

The Falcons are ranked No. 12, their best ever, in both national polls and received one first-place vote in the USCHO.com poll.

Goaltender Andrew Volkening was named co-Goalie of the Week in the Atlantic Hockey Association after he allowed just one goal in 124 minutes of play - it came on a 5-on-3 situation - in the Falcons' sweep of Holy Cross.

Volkening's goals-against average (1.29) and save percentage (.941) are among the 10 best in the nation.

Harrison school district closer to pay for performance for teachers
Should teacher pay be based on performance?
Yes. Teachers should be rewarded for good work, and poor performers should be weeded out.
No. Pay for performance is just a back-door way of blaming teachers for other problems in the education system.
It depends on what "performance" means. It's good if there's a fair measurement of performance.
Undecided.
