Taking a dive
The Holcombe family of Colorado Springs won seven medals in diving. SMU sophomore Preston Holcombe, 19, won gold medals in two events. His brothers — Devon, 13, and Braeden, 6 — each won two golds as well. Their mother, Kathleen, was second in the women’s 45-54 1-meter event.
Big numbers
More than 7,000 medals were awarded during the event, which had more than 2,000 volunteers. The games will return to Colorado Springs in 2009.
Golden efforts
Sharaya Musser, 16, won the gold medal in the open division all-around gymnastics competition. The Colorado Springs resident recorded the top scores in the vault (9.875) and floor exercise (9.275) as well as a second place finish in the balance beam (9.375) and third in the uneven bars (8.975). Musser was sixth in this year’s USA Gymnastics Junior National Championships.
