He Said, She Said: NFL Fantasy picks

THE GAZETTE

Matt Wiley's Picks:

Quarterback

Carson Palmer, Bengals
Against teams he has faced at least three times, Palmer has passed for more yards per game against the Titans (267.3) than any other team. The Titans allowed the Jaguars 33 yards rushing last week so expect the Bengals to abandon the run early this week.

Running back

Chris Johnson, Titans
He split carries with LenDale White last week (15 touches each), but the rookie was more effective. With the Titans turning to Kerry Collins at quarterback and facing the Bengals, Johnson could have a huge day. Look for the split with White to end soon.

Receiver

Jerricho Cotchery, Jets
In three games against the Patriots, Cotchery has 29 receptions for 367 yards and two touchdowns - his highest totals against any team. Look for Brett Favre to look for Cotchery a lot this week against a suspect New England secondary.

Sleeper

Warrick Dunn, Buccaneers
Dunn had one less carry than starter Earnest Graham and he is playing against his former team Atlanta. If Tampa Bay gets close to the end zone, coach Jon Gruden could give Dunn the ball to show his division rivals what they are missing.

Avoid

Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks
The quarterback simply doesn't have anyone to throw to. The 49ers' secondary held Arizona's potent receivers to one touchdown catch last week and Kurt Warner passed for only 176 yards. It would be surprising if Hasselbeck could greatly top those numbers this week.

Angie DiSalvo's Picks:

Quarterback

Chad Pennington, Dolphins
Vintage Pennington had a non-flashy but steady performance of 251 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He will get another shot at some big numbers this week against Arizona, which ranked 28th in passing yards allowed per game (232.2) in 2007.

Running back

Laurence Maroney, Patriots
In the last matchup against the Jets in 2007, Maroney went off for 104 yards and a touchdown in a pass-happy offense. Now that Tom Brady is out for the season, Maroney should get a lot more looks.

Receiver

Lee Evans, Bills
Trent Edwards' favorite receiver had four catches for 102 yards against Seattle. And Buffalo is eighth (232 yards per game) in the league in passing after finishing 2007 in 30th (164.6 yards per game).

Sleeper

Anthony Fasano, Dolphins
Jason Witten's former backup in Dallas had twice as many catches as any other Dolphin in Week 1 with eight (for 84 yards and a touchdown). With Pennington behind center, the tight end's potential to continue to rack up points is legit.

Avoid

Maurice Jones-Drew, Jaguars
Both Jacksonville running backs had a terrible season opener (combined 14 carries for 31 yards), while the Bills surrendered only 84 yards rushing last week. Plus, Jones-Drew wasn't very successful last year against Buffalo (10 carries, 10 yards, touchdown).

Ted Haggard is starting new church at his Colorado Springs home.
What's your view?
Good for him. If God has called Haggard to return to ministry, he should obey.
Haggard should stay out of the ministry. He has too much baggage to lead a church.
I don't care what Haggard does, and I'm sick of hearing about him in the news.
Haggard and anyone crazy enough to attend his church deserve each other.
Haggard has a lot to offer as a pastor. Let's give him a chance.
